Are You Over the SUV and Need to Move On?

I get you. I love the space, conveniences and comforts of an SUV or minivan, But at some point, you car has to be about you. This is where the Acura TLX enters your radar. And for 2024, this sporty 4-door sedan that’s a blast to drive and pampers with luxury details, has been redesigned to be even smarter and sportier.

The Acura TLX is made drivers who love driving. Details like microsuede seat inserts that keep you planted on curvy roads, tech at your fingertips so you don’t have to take your eyes off the road, and a leather steering wheel that’s satisfying to hold define this car. But, it still allows the things you need as a parent. With 4 doors and space for kids car seats, you can accommodate them if you need to. If your kids are older they’ll appreciate moving up to a chic sedan after spending life in a minivan. And, the engine produces an amazing sound and is fun to drive, making the trek to  school pick-up a delight.

How Does the 2024 Model Compare to the 2023 Model?

I experienced the 2023 Acura TLX first-hand when I went to see the changes to the 2024 model. I can attest to its joy-to-drive factor. My self-awareness in this car is a perfect example of this delight: when I hopped on the freeway to head south to Long Beach from the airport, I put my favorite playlist on while driving. Despite the fact that I love listening to music in the car, I had to pause the music (more than once) so I could listen to that sweet engine when I put my foot down on the pedal.

And that’s the good news about this makeover: There are no changes to the existing powertrain. The standard TLX has a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder with 272 horsepower, and the more powerful (and more fun) Type S has a 3.0-liter turbo V6 with a zoomy 355 horsepower. All trims come standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Whichever you choose, fast or faster, this car is a lot of fun.

New Tech and Enhancements in the 2024 Acura TLX

There are a few significant changes in the 2024 model regarding the sedan’s looks and technology. First of all, Acura is dropping the base trim of the TLX for 2024, and is making their super handling, all-wheel drive standard on the A-Spec (mid-level) trim. Front-wheel drive is still available on this sedan too.

New conveniences in the cabin include a larger driver display, which is customizable, and new multimedia screen that is 20% larger.  The system is still touch-pad controlled rather than touchscreen.

Even though I love a good display of my essential information while driving, the safety tech is what I’m more excited about. AcuraWatch, which is the collection of advanced driver assisted safety features, is updated for the better, with a wider front camera and sensor view and more range. This means it can detect pedestrians, bicycles, vehicles, white road lines, curbs, and road signs from further away than before. It is very comforting to know that the car is working with you to keep you and your family safe every single day.

The Type S also has a new 360-degree camera view for easing in and out of parking spaces. And the best part? Access it quickly by tapping a button on the end of the windshield wiper stalk and the camera image pops on to the screen. The rear blind spot monitoring range has increased too, to 82 feet, for lane change alert, which means more peace of mind when highway driving.

Aesthetics Abound in the Acura TLX

The tech is not the only update in the 2024 Acura TLX; aesthetics play a role too. I especially love the cleaner front end; gone is the surrounding border on the diamond-shaped grille as well as the clear panel of prior years. It looks a lot sleeker as a result, and I’m here for it, making this an even hotter mom car.

Enhancements made to the interior of the TLX that make it quieter may be the best update of all. Reduced noise from the road, wind and other cars and trucks make the cabin a respite, perfect for taking a drive to soothe a cranky kid to sleep. And he supportive power seats and premium sound will soothe you when you need to clear your head after a long day of parenting.

Sporty Chic Will Always Win a Mom’s Heart

The lovely 2024 Acura TLX is enhanced and appealing, and it will be available at dealerships later this month. Pricing hasn’t been made available yet, but it shouldn’t be too far off the current price, which starts at about $40K.

When you see the new 2024 Acura TLX on the road and a mom behind the wheel, her kids experiencing the charm of this sporty sedan, won’t you feel a pang of envy? I know I will.
